Our story.

The origin story of Briody Constructions

Hi I’m Oscar Briody, I grew up on a farm in Bellbrae and have seen a lot of change through my time living on the Surf Coast. My first school now sits under the Coles in central Torquay and many of the paddocks we played in as kids are now covered in houses; but Torquay will always be Torquay – we embrace new and exciting changes.

Important values such as trust, innovation, dedication, integrity and quality were all lessons learned on the farm that I implement today in business and in life. These values were reinforced during many years of playing football in Torquay. The importance of teamwork was paramount to success. A love for the outdoors was one of the main reasons I started my apprenticeship, I always try and get out for a round of golf, a run, hike, help my family on the farm and explore the stunning country we have around us.

With a passion for the outdoors I spent four winters making snow and skiing in Thredbo. Along with meeting and working with a lot of interesting people from all over the world, I was able to see some spectacular areas of Kosciusko National Park. I was lucky enough to follow this passion to Japan and skied some amazing regions over there while enjoying the food, culture and trying to take in as much of the Japanese methods and ideas on construction as I could.

Some of the things I’ve brought back with me is we should all care for our surroundings, try and minimise waste, appreciate the views all around us and that you can create buildings that sit connected to the environment and compliment the landscape around them.

Being on the Surf Coast, I believe this is an important consideration and something that we keep in mind when meeting with our clients and design partners on site at the beginning of a project.

I was lucky to work with experienced builders on high-end architectural jobs right along the Surf Coast from the moment I started my apprenticeship. That meant I was able to learn what was required to deliver high-end homes to the standard that clients and architects require right from the start. I have never lost sight of this and quality remains an essential part of what we strive for on a daily basis.

My first supervisor and a man that taught me many skills educated me on an essential mindset when building architectural homes. Adapt and overcome.

Things will always pop up on more complex builds but they are the opportunities to refine the design and find solutions.

I have been running Briody Constructions for over three years now and have a local team with a combined 45 years’ construction experience. All of our licensed tradesmen are local, work on every job and bring continuity and open communication making sure each trade looks after the next so there are no surprises at the end and we can achieve the desired result for our clients.

Your home is unique – it’s filled with photos, memories and little parts of you and your family. So if you are thinking of building or renovating your home and are looking for a team with highly skilled craftsmen that act with care, an eye for detail and understand your home is distinctively yours, please pick up the phone and give us a call or reach out through our contact form on this website. I would love to talk to you about how we can help you create the perfect space for you and your family.
